Golf Wrist Training Aid Review
Golfers are always seeking the secret to power, and the wrist area is one you should pay attention to. Getting and retaining lag in the wrist, as well as coming into impact with a flat left wrist, and a bent right wrist is critical to power and better ball striking. There are several wrist lag training aids on the market, and the golf wrist lag aid, is one that peaked my curiousity. I personally flip at impact, and have struggled with this swing fault for a long time, so I had a personal reason to look at this swing aid.

One very important aspect of lag is golf wrist set. That is the setting and retaining of the right wrist angle. Most golfers do not set their right wrist correctly (me included), which will get their swing off plane, making it very difficult to come into impact and compress the golf ball.
This aid (wrist brace), puts you into a very good position with your right wrist, and because it's made of hard plastic, keeps your right wrist in this position while you train (hit balls with it).
The only way to ingrain this proper wrist set is to put your wrists into that position and have it stay there while you practice. You will feel a totally different swing when you have it on, as you (like me) have no doubt flipped, released your right wrist through impact, and this wrist brace forces you to swing through with your pivot.
When I first put it on and hit a few short shots, I couldn't believe how hard it was for me to make contact, as for years I've flipped at the ball, with a stalled body pivot. With this wrist aid on, it is impossible to flip. The brace won't let you.
Improve Your Short Game
One added benefit of this training device is for shots around the green. I don't know about you, but I have bladed, chunked, and even topped many chip and pitch shots that cost me a ton of strokes during a round, but by practicing with this wrist aid around the green, you will become a much better chipper and pitcher of the golf ball, as it does not allow you to flip your wrists to contact the ball.
Cons Of This Wrist Aid
The only negative is when you put it on, and grab a club, it feels very awkward, as your wrists are now "preset" into an impact position. So you have to get out of your mind the slightly uncomfortable feel when you address the ball, and realize it's a training aid for wrist lag, and to prevent flipping of your wrists.
It can also feel a little uncomfortable around your finger area when you use it, but I found after using it for a few minutes, I got use to it, and it was no problem after that.
Let's Wrap This Up
If you want to cure your flip, and prevent wrist collapse in your golf swing, this aid is for you. If you are working on a flat left wrist, this device will help. If you want an aid to hit balls with that is comfortable to use, this might not be it.
Overall, I give this aid a 9 out of 10, as it serves its purpose of learning the proper feel of wrist lag, wrist set and impact positions.
I think for the majority of mid to high handicap golfers, this aid can really help. This is not a plug for the product, but I now have it on my training aid site, so if you want it, click on the image below.
