Swing Fan Club
You may have seen this training aid before it's the club with fan-like blades on it that you try to swing faster and faster. I don't think you're going to fly away if you swing it too fast, but the swing fan club may be an effective approach to infusing higher golf swing speeds and distance into your shots.

What the Swing Fan Golf Club Does
The little blades similar to a ceiling fan create resistance when you swing the club through the aire. The harder you swing, the more resistance is created. One problem I have is that statement right there! Swinging harder and harder, can create sloppy swing technique, which leads to swing faults on the course. Not good!
If you can keep this in mind, and swing under control...but as fast as you can, you can strengthen your power golf muscles and not lose your swing mechanics.
Positives
I do like how golf swing specific this training aid is. You can't get anymore specific than making golf swings and working those same muscles at the same time. I also like it's length. It's short enough to swing indoors (or maybe just your garage). And you can check your technique out while doing it by looking in the mirror when you swing it.
Negatives
It seems like swinging HARDER is where you gain the benefit...and I am not an advocate of swinging harder. As mentioned above, you lose control, swing sloppily and create swing faults. All negatives to your golf improvement program. As I swung harder, I also struggled with keeping a solid grip on the handle. I found my grip moving around a lot at higher speeds.
I do think this is a legitimate training aid for developing the strength and flexibility in your golf specific swing muscles. My only recommendation would be to make your swings in front of a mirror to check technique if at all possible.
If you're still in search of more swing speed, then the Momentus Power Hitter Swing Speed Trainer is worth a look.
