Golf Slice Instruction

Any good golf slice instruction should make one simple point very clear: that there is only one reason for a golf ball slicing. All the golf slice instruction videos you see for sale on the internet, and all the instruction eBooks and other publications, cannot change that one basic fact. When the club face strikes the ball, a line taken at 90 degrees from the club face should point straight at the target, and the club should be moving right along that line.

Hit The Ball Straight

A golf ball slices out to the right with a curved trajectory because the club head was open at the point of impact. This means that it was not straight but angled slightly towards the right and so put clockwise spin on the ball. This spin is what causes the golf ball to curve out away to the right.

Some good golfers can do this deliberately in order to get the ball rolling in the right direction after the bounce, for example on a slightly dog-legged fairway, and this is called a fade. Mostly, however, amateur golfers do this in error because they are not straightening the clubface before impact.

Golf Slice Instruction should Focus on the Grip

Good golf slice instruction will work on this failure and the potential factors which can cause it. One major factor is a weak grip. This means that the grip is too much round to the left of the shaft so that the club head is angled to the right when it hits the ball. The way to resolve this is to strengthen the grip by moving the top hand a bit more clockwise round the shaft. A few drives on the range should enable you to make the fine tuning to eliminate your slice.

Golf slice instruction should focus on your grip, stance and your swing mechanics, making sure that your arms start off the backswing followed by the shoulders, and your legs start off the downswing. With a good strong grip and instruction to ensure that you are swinging correctly and straight through the ball, your slice should be cured and you can back to hitting fairways again.
