Golf Slice Cure

Before you can think of a golf slice cure, you have to determine the cause of the slice. One of the most common causes of a golf slice is a weak grip, which allows a slight rotation of the club shaft on the downswing so that the club face is not straight on to the ball at impact. The way to strengthen the grip is to turn it slightly to the right, that is move your hands, especially the top hands, just slightly clockwise round the shaft - you don't hold the club tighter!

Go onto the practice range and check out the adjusted grip. Check your slice and adjust your grip again if required. This is the most common golf slice cure, but if it fails, you could try to increase your swing speed just a little.

Another possibility is not a true golf slice cure at all. What you think is a slice could be a push. This is cause by a left to right swing path. You should be able to tell the difference, since a slice will curve out to the right while a push will shoot straight out. However, some newer golfers can confuse the two.

Yet another very common cause of a golf slice is a right to left swing, where you swing across the face of the ball. This also imparts a clockwise spin on the ball, causing it to slice. In this case the main golf slice cure is to go back to basics with the swing.

Back To Basics

If everything has failed, you will have to pay careful attention to your posture and stance since your golf slice cure will lie somewhere in your stance, backswing and downswing. Get your swing mechanics right, relax and get everything done in the right order. Make sure that the backswing starts with your hands and the downswing starts with your hips. Go back to basics, don't tense up and try to hold the club tighter, and don't concentrate too hard on what you are doing or your golf slice may get worse.

A golf slice cure is all about making sure that you hit the ball square. Achieve that and there will be no slice. There's more golf swing slice instruction ahead....
