A Golf Putting Aid Can Improve Your Score

How is your putting these days? Most golfers think they are reasonable putters and can't see the need for a golf putting aid, but is that really the case with you? Are you really happy with your putting, or do find yourself starting off-line just a bit more often that you would like?

Putting Is A Big Part Of The Game

Perhaps a golf putting aid could help you after all? Yes, it doesn't matter how well you drive or how well your short game is if you can't putt consistently well. I don't believe in the trite old saying "drive for show, putt for dough", since you need a complete game, but how do you improve your putting?

You could go out to the practice greens every day, but it's much easier to usea golf putting aid. There are various designs and can be set up in seconds. They test your ability to get putts on line and at the right speed. It's OK practicing on the greens, but they don't really give you practice at putting straight.

There's always some kind of borrow, and even bad golfers can mis-putt and make it if they have mis-read the borrow! A good golf putting aid should have no borrow. That's not what it's for. It's to make sure you start the golf ball off on exactly the line you intended. Once it starts moveing there's nothing you can do about it!

Test Before You Buy

However, before going out and buying the first golf putting aid that catches your fancy, it might be wise to check out what is wrong with your putting. Perhaps your pro will have a look at it for you and give you some free advice. You will then be in a better position to select the kind of putting aid you need.

There are several different types of golf putting aid, ranging from simple boxes with a hole cut in it through golf balls with lines drawn on that show you if you are putting straight or not, to special goggles that let you align yourself, the putter and the ball.

There is no doubt, however, that a golf putting aid that helps you to keep your stance right, keep your body still and give you practice hitting dead straight would be of benefit to you. But, try it out first. Don't buy on a whim, and make sure that the golf putting aid you opt for will help to solve the problem that is causing you to put badly.
