Butch Harmon Laser Trainer
Thank god I have a ton of golf friends, peers and contacts at local golf shops or I would go broke buying and reviewing the hundreds of trainers, including Butch Harmons Laser Trainer
This unique training aid was owned by a good friend of mine, so I was able to have him show me how it worked and then try it. I was pleasantly surprised to see how this trainer...using a laser...could give you a real sense of where your swing plane is, and how to correct it.
I was thoroughly impressed with the packaging and all that came with the laser trainer. You get the Path Laser (with batteries), Plane Laser (with batteries), Graphical Mat, Instructional video, aand Instructional booklet.

The Path Laser was pretty neat because you have a red beam pointing right in front of your club face where the ball would be, so you can really get a feel for where you clubhead is. Now obviously once your swing goes beyond a certain point, the laser is no good, because its main function is on the ground surrounding the very critical impact and post impact positions of your clubhead. Using the graphical mat is a huge help in where your clubhead path should be at these critical points..
The Plane Laser is what I really liked. I am always trying to work in swing plane, to be able to come into the ball with your shaft on plane with minimal resistance and added force. If you are interesting in improving your swing plane, the Plane Laser will really help! Again, with the use of the graphical mat, you will get a wake up call as to where your true path is and where the right one should be. I like it when I am in the transition coming down, to see if my plane is on or not.
The graphical mat is a critical component with this training aid. Without it, you would not get the immediate feedback as to where your swing patha nd plane is, and more importantly, how to correct it. The target line on the mat is the most prominent line, since this line dictates a straight shot or not. The other lines show you how it feels with an "in to out" swing and an "out to in swing. Both very helpful in finding both the swing path and plane that's right for you!
Grade:
I would give this training aid a strong A for both functionality AND comprehensiveness with all the tools it comes with. Search on the net and you'll quickly find some sources of where you can get one.
